Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19http://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/127Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19<div><strong>On May 19, the Premier’s Office announced that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year, in response to COVID-19</strong>. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools and adult learning centres will not reopen on May 31, 2020. The decision to extend the school closure period for the remainder of the school year is based on advice from Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health in order to protect the health and safety of students, families and staff. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:<br></div><div><ul><li>Permits (Community Use of Schools)</li><li>All EarlyON and Child Care Centres</li><li>Adult and continuing education</li><li>Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs<br></li></ul></div><div>In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Learn more at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19">www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19</a><br></div>

Lots of Fun at School this Week!http://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/145Lots of Fun at School this Week!<p>​Just a little update on the fun our students have been having this week.<br></p><p>The Barrie Colts Assembly with Charlie Horse (thanks Mr. Hache) was held Tuesday morning!  Charlie greeted students at the door and players answered students' questions about the life of an OHL hockey player.  You can still purchase tickets to attend the Colts game in the Hillsdale section on Saturday, March 21st.  Our "Colts Choir" is practicing O Canada and will sing on the ice before the game!  Due date to purchase tickets is March 6 - send your form in with your student tomorrow March 5, or drop it off on the PA Day March 6.<br></p><p>Tuesday afternoon students in Grades 4-8 saw an excellent production of "Straight On Till Morning" a play that depicted positive mental health in a sensitive way.  The acting and singing were amazing.  The production by Education Arts Canada is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.<br></p><p>Today, Wednesday, students in Grades 1-5 are playing in-door golf courtesy of an instructor from Orr Lake Golf Course.<br></p><p>Thanks to School Council for organizing the Colts game for Hillsdale families and supporting the in-school performance.<br></p><p>We have had some questions about Grad Pics Re-take Day for our Gr. 8s and SKs and it will be April 21st.<br></p><p>Have a great weekend Hillsdale School Community!<br></p>

Work-to-rule means a partial withdrawal of services by the employee group. The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has been identified as one of the boards that will be affected. In the SCDSB, this branch of ETFO represents our permanent elementary teachers, occasional elementary teachers and designated early childhood educators (DECEs). <br></span><br style="color:#343534;font-size:12.5067px;letter-spacing:0.3px;"><span class="sizeable" style="margin:0px;font-family:gotham_htfbook;font-size:12.5067px;color:#343534;letter-spacing:0.3px;">Should a tentative agreement not be reached,<span> </span><strong style="font-family:gotham_htfmedium;font-weight:bold;font-size:0.938em;">all SCDSB elementary schools will be closed to students on Monday, Jan. 27, as there would not be sufficient supervision to ensure student safety. What a Great Community Evening at Hillsdale EShttp://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/140What a Great Community Evening at Hillsdale ES<p>​Thank you to all of our families and community members who came out for our <strong>3rd Annual Deck-the-Halls </strong>event last evening!<br></p><p>We hope you enjoyed the performances, time to mingle with friends and family, that you gotto take some pics in the photo booth, enjoyed some hot chocolate and/or baked goods!<br></p><p>Thank you to our School Council, the Carter family, and all of the folks who donated baked goods.  We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.<br></p><p>Next Friday is our <strong>Festive Feast</strong> - another seasonal event put on by our School Council and Hillsdale volunteers.  A letter is going home today about the feast.  For those students who have food sensitivites, allergies, preferences, please return the form by Wednesday, December 11.<br></p>
Deck-the-Halls Open House ~ Performances ~ Carol Singhttp://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/139Deck-the-Halls Open House ~ Performances ~ Carol Sing<p>​Our 3rd Annual Deck-the-Halls Open House is happening tomorrow evening (December 5) from 6-8 pm.<br></p><p>You are welcome to stroll the hallways of our school to see the seasonal door decor.  There will be hot chocolate, and baked goods for sale!  You will be able to pick-up your Gift Cards as well.<br></p><p>Beginning at 6:30 pm there will be performances in the gym.  Between each performance there will be caroling!  You are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on the gym floor as there won't be many chairs set-up.<br></p><p>If you would like to donate to the Elmvale Food Bank, we are accepting non-perishable food items.<br></p><p>Thank you to the staff and students who will be performing and our School Council for organizing the hot chocolate and bake sale.<br></p><p>So fun!  Hope to see you there.<br></p>
