Parents and guardians with more than one child (in Grades 4 to 8) can complete one survey per child.<br><br>Survey topics include: the overall climate of the school, student well-being, and equity and inclusion.<br><br><strong>Complete the survey now: </strong><a href="https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/201819ParentsGuardians">https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/201819ParentsGuardians</a> <br><br>A similar survey is being conducted with students and staff. Each school will receive a report of the school results. The Simcoe County District School Board’s (SCDSB) senior administrative team and Board of Trustees also review the board-wide results. <br><br>The data will show our progress over time, and will highlight areas of strength and areas in need of improvement.  <br><br>Student School Climate surveys have been collected since 2007.<br><br>Questions can be sent to <a href="mailto:research@scdsb.on.ca">research@scdsb.on.ca</a>.</p>
Thank you and Goodbye Mr. Spearshttp://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/106Thank you and Goodbye Mr. Spears<p>We sent Mr. Spears on his way with a wonderful tribute from two of his Grade 8 students, an amazing historical slideshow put together by Mrs. Hermiston and Mrs. MacInnis, fond memories shared by Madame Chamney, and a gift of a Hillsdale Jersey in a shadow box from School Council to recognize Mr. Spears' almost 27 years of teaching here and the many Hillsdale teams he has coached over the years - thank you Mrs. Awrey and Mrs. Hood.  Mr. Spears' current Grade 8 class gave him a standing ovation at the end of the presentations.  Thank you everyone for honouring Mr. Spears on his last day at Hillsdale ES.<br></p>
Happy Holidays Hillsdale Familieshttp://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/107Happy Holidays Hillsdale Families<p>​Dear Hillsdale Families:</p><p>Another Season of Giving has arrived.  Again, thank you for your generous donations of food items - over 1100 items were donated to the Elmvale Food Bank.  Thanks as well for your many cards and gifts to our Hillsdale Staff.  They are so appreciated.</p><p>A special thank you to School Council for all they have done to make this season special for our students and their families - Gift Card Fundraiser, Bake Sale at our Deck the Halls event, Festive Feast, and, the beautiful decorations in our front foyer.</p><p>All of our staff are wishing you the very best of the season, fun times with family, and a restful break.</p><p>Staff will meet back here to greet your children for the winter term on January 7, 2019.  On that day we will also be welcoming our new Grade 8 teacher, Mr. Dave Rowe.</p><p>Happy Holidays!<br></p><p>Sincerely, Shelley Clark, Principal<br></p>
Holiday Messagehttp://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/105Holiday Message<p>​Dear Hillsdale Families</p><p>First of all, thank you for your generous donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries to our school food drive!  Our school was able to donate over 1100 items this year.</p><p>Tomorrow - Friday, December 21st - is "There is No Such Thing as an Ugly Christmas Sweater Day" and final Carol Sing in the gym.</p><p>And, after a long and storied career here at Hillsdale Elementary School, Mr. Mac Spears is hanging up his chalk!  All staff and students, are wishing Mr. Spears the very best in his retirement.  We will most definitely miss his sense of humour, his coaching and his dedication to his students.  THANK YOU MR. SPEARS</p>
