Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19

On March 31, 2020, the Premier’s Office announced an extension to the provincial school closure period in response to COVID-19. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools, child care centres and adult learning centres will not reopen on April 6, 2020, as originally scheduled. The Premier’s Office has stated that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4, 2020, at which time they will reassess school openings. 

The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:
  • Permits (Community Use of Schools)
  • All EarlyON and Child Care Centres
  • Adult and continuing education
  • Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs
  • Accessibility Advisory Committee (March 30, 2020)
  • First Nations Education Advisory Committee (April 2, 2020)
  • Special Education Advisory Committee (April 6, 2020)
  • Program Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
  • Human Resources Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
  • Business and Facilities Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.

Lots of Fun at School this Week!http://hid.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/145Lots of Fun at School this Week!<p>​Just a little update on the fun our students have been having this week.<br></p><p>The Barrie Colts Assembly with Charlie Horse (thanks Mr. Hache) was held Tuesday morning!  Charlie greeted students at the door and players answered students' questions about the life of an OHL hockey player.  You can still purchase tickets to attend the Colts game in the Hillsdale section on Saturday, March 21st.  Our "Colts Choir" is practicing O Canada and will sing on the ice before the game!  Due date to purchase tickets is March 6 - send your form in with your student tomorrow March 5, or drop it off on the PA Day March 6.<br></p><p>Tuesday afternoon students in Grades 4-8 saw an excellent production of "Straight On Till Morning" a play that depicted positive mental health in a sensitive way.  The acting and singing were amazing.  The production by Education Arts Canada is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.<br></p><p>Today, Wednesday, students in Grades 1-5 are playing in-door golf courtesy of an instructor from Orr Lake Golf Course.<br></p><p>Thanks to School Council for organizing the Colts game for Hillsdale families and supporting the in-school performance.<br></p><p>We have had some questions about Grad Pics Re-take Day for our Gr. 8s and SKs and it will be April 21st.<br></p><p>Have a great weekend Hillsdale School Community!<br></p>

Work-to-rule means a partial withdrawal of services by the employee group. The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has been identified as one of the boards that will be affected. In the SCDSB, this branch of ETFO represents our permanent elementary teachers, occasional elementary teachers and designated early childhood educators (DECEs). <br></span><br style="color:#343534;font-size:12.5067px;letter-spacing:0.3px;"><span class="sizeable" style="margin:0px;font-family:gotham_htfbook;font-size:12.5067px;color:#343534;letter-spacing:0.3px;">Should a tentative agreement not be reached,<span> </span><strong style="font-family:gotham_htfmedium;font-weight:bold;font-size:0.938em;">all SCDSB elementary schools will be closed to students on Monday, Jan. 27, as there would not be sufficient supervision to ensure student safety.
